Mobile Solution for the End-of-Line Test of Active Sound Generators.

Today's engines are engineering of the highest standard. Especially for car fans, the sound often leaves a lot to be desired. This wish was solved by installing so-called Active Sound Generators (ASG). These generators are able to simulate the sound of engines according to the current rotation speed, torque and speed. As a result, the sound of a vehicle is no longer dependent on the engine. It can be configured by software. In the case of electric or hybrid vehicles, the recovered engine feeling also has a safety aspect. Pedestrians can easily miss the approaching vehicle without a built-in ASG, because there is no acoustic signal.

To detect production errors like tightness of the case or damaged loudspeaker membranes, this mobile test system was developed by MCD. With the help of the MCD AudioAnalyzer, an impedance measurement is carried out, which reveals possible sources of errors. To enable this, a special pulse is generated in order to cover all audible frequencies and a test time of less than 2 seconds per DUT is achieved.

By placing the EOL tester on wheels, it becomes a mobile test system for flexible use and transportation. Another special feature is that the ASG test system is completely lockable.
