Home automation knows no limits at present and is constantly evolving. The so-called "Smart Home" has not only benefits for its inhabitants but also for manufacturers of, for example, heating systems. With the aid of a built-in WiFi module in the heating, it can not only communicate with the user's smartphone or tablet but also for example adapt the room temperature remotely and can also notify the manufacturer of error messages directly. This way remote diagnostics, etc. become the everyday life of heating engineers.
For the programming and functional testing of these WiFi modules for the heating systems of an international energy system producer, MCD Elektronik has developed two systems that are tuned to fulfill the complex requirements of different signals and numerous, simultaneously flowing information streams. In addition to a short test time, the country-specific legal provisions for the strength and frequencies of the ZigBee and WiFi signals had to be ensured.
The test specialist has succeeded once again in surpassing himself and undercutting the given testing times of the customer. The first 150 devices under test were programmed and tested in Birkenfeld and then transferred directly into the production line of the customer.
