MCD Elektronik presents the new version of the switchable USB-Hub

Birkenfeld, September 28, 2015: The testing equipment specialist MCD Elektronik, has extended its switchable, eight-port USB hub, which first came to market in 2014, with a new variation. MCD Managing director Bruno Hörter stated, “Daily requests and hundreds of purchased devices are the best proof that there is a need for a switchable USB hub. To allow our customers to use the most current technological capabilities, we have extended the USB hub’s development by adding the USB 3.0 standard. The advantage in comparison with previous versions is an increased of the data transmission rate by a factor of ten and an expanded power range."

All eight ports, including their power supply connections can be activated and deactivated individually and independently of each other using a control command. When deactivated, all of the connections will be disconnected using semiconductor switches. The ports can also be manually switched using buttons. Which ports will be immediately activated when the USB hub is turned on can be stored in a non-volatile memory. A useful advantage is the addition of connections for each port, so that it can supply each connected device with an external power supply of up to 30 VDC. The relay channels can also be used for other, independent switching processes.

USB commands control the individual connections and features with the support of the Toolmonitor USB hub. The commands can optionally be sent through the USB 3.0 host connection as well as through an additional USB 2.0 connection. COM/DCOM or .Net-Assembly is used as an interface. This allows the Toolmonitor to be integrated in a large number of applications (Microsoft Visual Studio® (C#, C++, Visual Basic), Microsoft Office® (e.g. Excel®), Open Office®, LabView®, MCD TestManager CE). Provisions have also been made to provide compatibility with Linux operating systems.
