Things were pretty lively at the Electronica 2010 in Munich. Under the slogan "We have the hots for challenges", we presented our latest developments in measurement technology.
Highlight was the "Universal LowCost System", short ULC, a multi functional test and measurement system which we developed in-house and with fundings from the BMWi.
In the development, we used the following new, never before implemented technologies: highly complex components, software techniques with automatic self-tuning, and new materials in the mechanical design.
The MCD AudioAnalyzer attracted many visitors. Visitors demonstrated their musical skills via a piano application on the iPAD, generating different waveforms and melodies. These signals were read and evaluated by the MCD AudioAnalyzer. In addition to the usual standard calculations in the audio field such as frequency, level, distortion factor, etc., the integrated programming features of the MCD AudioAnalyzer can also feature note recognition when music is played.
Just in time for the Electronica, we introduced our new ULC measurement card with FPGA controller. In addition to intelligent measurement functions, the ULC offers a curve editor, FFT analysis for AC signals, AD/DA-digital channels, a USB 2.0 interface, A/D channels with 500 KHz and a resolution of 16 bit.
Since our systems are custom designed and manufactured, we added an additional reference project to our exhibit; the "Entertainment Tube Amplifier Test System", which is used for testing home entertainment components and tests the electrical and sound characteristics of the test items. Furthermore, full frequency response can be determined very quickly and through the Fast Fourier Transformation the characteristics "warm" sound of the tube amplifier can be recognized.
Numerous visitors were interested to see our Profi-Applications with ME-Hardware. Visitors to the Meilhaus booth came in groups to us as they were interested in a demonstration of the measurement software TestManager CE when combined with Meilhaus measurement cards. The ME-Neuron was our sample package, a complete compact PCI-based and very robust measurement PC. The sample package is bundled with the 16-bit multifunction card ME 4660 and connection accessories. Together, with the TestManager CE the user obtains a complete system for testing and test applications with a simple controllable combination of analog inputs, outputs, digital channels and counters.
In summary, we can say that the mood at the Electronica 2010 was very good. The recovery of the economic situation was reflected in the optimism of the visitors.
Our customer care and relations, along with promising talks lead to concrete and specific commitments for new jobs. Already we arranged appointments with some of our new contacts. We were very pleased with the visitors flow and a successful convention. For us, the Electronica is the most important trade fair worldwide.
