MCD Test system for magnetic Level Sensors

In record time of just eight weeks MCD has developed , built and put into operation a new test system for  magnetic Level Sensors.

These sensors are installed as slope sensors, used in the under-carriage of passenger cars. From there the sensors deliver an angular linear signal to the control electronics.  As a result, the indicator distance in the vehicle is regulated as well as the set up of the gear density. Initially, the sensors are programmed on a test stand, followed by a 100% inspection. There, the transmitter signals are measured at a rotation of 400 degrees, and are assessed afterwards. Due to the applied MCD measuring electronics, with its fast drive technology servo-motor, a standard total testing period of 45 seconds was reduced to under 15 seconds. The system's software is written in LabVIEW 8.5. Besides the MCD hardware, additional measurement techniques, like NI-motion and DAQ components by National Instruments, are being put to use as well. All of the software library functions for the  test facility bench and measuring results, for example the correction of  linearising of the drive gear defect, and the results of the sensor signals, were provided by the MCD Software department.
