Conquered market gap with “Victor” and colleagues

Birkenfeld/Dobel, September 1st, 2002: Approximately 75% of all car speedometer and revolution counters of the worldare being tested with high sensitive equipment by MCD Elektronik GmbH fortheir correct function.

"We have been really turning the wheel for the last four to five years", said Senior Executive President Siegfried Treiber yesterday to PZ.The Dobler company produces electronic test systems, especially for the automotiveindustry worldwide. Our product tests everything in the car that is powered by electricity, explained the hard-and software developer Ralf Loth. So, there are auto radios, navigation systems, motor electronics, remote control keys, switches and all entertainment systems as well as DVD and CD players. Household appliances - areonly a few applications, which are tested with MCD systems to check if the standard controls are complaint. Loth introduced the business yesterday at the "Dobler Kurhaus" before guests of the "Business Lunch". This is a shared event of Z-Funke and WFG-Wirtschaftsfoerderung Zukunftsregion Nordschwarzwald, which takes place once a quarter year in different towns. The goal, among other things is to establish a network in the industry of information and communication technology in the region.

Breakthrough with Large Scale Industry
As MCD expert Loth said, the business since "Victor" has succeeded with a breakthrough in the large scale industry. Our customers are Daimler Chrysler and BMW, amongst other well renowned international automobile makers. With an exporting quote close to 40% besides in Europe, deliveries go to South America, Asia and Africa. "Victor" is a inconspicuous box stuffed full with sophisticated hard-and software. It is a type of industrial PC with relative upgrade up to the picture system. For example: During production it can test the quality of the produced units in seconds."We fill a market gap" according to Loth of MCD. The company was founded in 1983 in Dobel and opened a branch in 2000 in Birkenfeld. This is where the engineering and software application departments have their home. The Dobel location has the Lion's share of the hardware application department. Each branch has 12 employees. Senior Executive President Treiber is in charge of Dobel and Bruno Hoerter also Senior Executive President is in charge of Birkenfeld. Both branches belong under one company umbrella, using synergy effect; but each attend to their own customers. There is an advantage to this split into two smaller units, which is the direct customer proximity, "fast information exchange and short communication channels", calls it Treiber. Additionally, it is "a healthy internal competition". The revenue of MCD Elektronik GmbH climbed in the last 10 years from almost 1.5 million Euro to a round figure of 5 million Euro in 2001. MCD began in 1983 with 4 employees. In 1991 there where 12 and at the moment we have 24 employees, additionally there are several freelancers active with the company.
